QUICK GUN MURUGAN MOVIE REVIEW

QUICK GUN MURUGAN (2009) HINDI MOVIE REVIEW:

    Story and Analysis:

It seems to tollywood comedy hero magic was not worked in bollywood. We thought it would be a fun film. Stupid stupid thought! The tale of the original Indian cowboy, inspired by the quintessential ‘Bawliwud Ishtylish’ hero, Quick Gun Murugan is light years away from being anything funny.
Actually Quick Gun Murugan is like a plate of grossly overcooked pasta. It is not the usual fare and could have been tasty if cooked right. But instead ends up being a bowl of unpalatable sludge. And we can only blame the filmmakers for that. A spoof is a spoof – no logic, no storyline just a short while of mindless fun. Try turning that into a film, stretch it for 90 tedious minutes and this is what you’ll end up with – sludge!
The story begins with QG Murugan dying. It is right about then that you’ll realise how the makers are trying too hard to be extraordinarily ‘cool’ – something which in the nineties would have been referred to as extremely ‘Yo!’. Chitragupta for example is a Gujarati man named C Gupta. And ‘yamlok’ is called the Ministry of Death. Things that would have been funny… in Class II.
Come interval, and you’ll still be waiting to laugh. Really laugh. Some names here and some actions there might be funny. For example, a song sequence with Murugan (Dr Rajendrakumar) and his Locket Lover (Anu Menon aka Lola Kutty) dancing around trees is cute. It incorporates all the 60’s Bollywood clichés right from flowers touching each other to depict an intimate (read kissing) scene to the quintessential park bench romance. However, most of the first half is too violent (for no apparent reason) to be fun.
Second half brings in the other character you might be waiting for – Mango Dolly. Rambha as the blonde-haired, bar dancer cum gangster’s keep cum Miss India aspirant cum a lot of other things is good. But it’s tough for even her to help sustain a film that stretches beyond measure. Her romance with Quick Gun is the only highlight of this half of the film. The extremely corny scenes and dialogues between them is good fun.
To give it to the actors, they have really lived up to their exaggerated characters. Dr Rajendraprasad is brilliant as Quick Gun Murugan. He doesn’t laugh. He can’t look at semi clad women. He winces when he sees Mango Dolly dance. Good! Raju Sundaram’s portrayal of Rowdy MBA is also worth a mention. The two women Anu Menon (aka Lola Kutty of Channel V) as Locket Lover and Rambha as Mango Dolly live up to their characters as well.
With rich, vibrant colours and well executed special effects, the film has a very comic strip effect. The background score only adds to the effects. Every character has their unique musical track which plays when they enter or exit a scene. The same goes for similar situations. The songs however are nothing worth mentioning. And we could have lived without them.
Quick Gun Murugan thus, is a great character. He could have been the Indian Don Quixote. It’s a pity, he ends up being an immense bore.

    Final View:

What you’ve already seen of Quick Gun in trailers, is all that’s worth seeing. Don’t even bother watching the film. It will only spoil the character already created by Shah Rukh Khan in Om Santhi Omyears back. Quick Gun Murgun Fire was miss hitted. This film was bore and its a flop movie.

    shadow hindi movie review 2009
    Story And Analysis:

First things first! Before we dissect the film, discuss its merits and demerits, discuss whether it worked or not and offer reasons, let's salute the grit, determination, willpower and courage of Nasser Khan, who enacts the role of the protagonist in Shadow.

Imagine a blind person carrying off those hazardous, death-defying stunts... Just that effort deserves an applause.

Now let's come to the point. Shadow is more of a showreel to project the acting abilities of Nasser Khan, so, expectedly, the writing takes a backseat. The screenplay is very '70s and '80s, reminiscent of the masala films we enjoyed so much then. It's just that times have changed and so have the tastes of a big chunk of moviegoers.

Yet, there's no denying that there still exists a sizable chunk of movie-going audience that relishes masala films and Shadow is targeted at them.

The police have not been able to crack a serial murder case. Arjun Sherawat [Nasser Khan] is a man who is unseen and is the criminal. No one knows his identity. This case has been granted to Sanjana [Sonali Kulkarni], a police officer. She has been trying too hard, but all her efforts have been in vain.

Sheetal [Hrishitaa Bhatt] is a press reporter who loves her profession to the core. She works with a news channel and has information about the case as she follows it very closely.

Rahul [Milind Soman], a press reporter from another news channel, has also been following the case step by step. He constantly keeps nagging Sanjana about the case by questioning her from time to time.

Murders are still being committed at short intervals. Meanwhile, Sheetal passes a crucial information to police about the next target of Arjun Sherawat. But Arjun Sherawat meets with an accident and is presumed dead.

Everyone is in a joyous mood until they hear Arjun Sherawat's latest audio clip, which states that he will kidnap a famous builder Habeeb Faizal [Mushtaq Khan] in front of the police on a given date.

Everyone is stunned on hearing this. Meanwhile, Arjun Sherawat succeeds in kidnapping Habeeb Faizal. What happens next?

In an effort to showcase the heroic abilities of Nasser Khan, the writers throw logic out of the window while writing the scenes. The film holds your attention in the initial reels, but goes haywire in the second half. The romantic track between Nasser and Sonali is the weakest link in the narrative. So is the climax, which just doesn't work.

At the same time, the stunts and also a few individualistic sequences are deftly executed. Plus, the musical score [Anand Raaj Anand] is the type that caters to the masses and fits well for this genre.

Rohit Nayyar's shot compositions are perfect. Plus, technically speaking, it's a polished job. However, the writing lets him down at places. Cinematography is good. The stunts deserve special mention.

Nasser Khan is not an actor and though this is evident in several sequences, you don't really complain because you haven't come to watch the histrionics in any case. It's the curiosity factor that has drawn you towards this film, right?

Milind Soman gives a good account of himself. Sonali Kulkarni looks grossly over-weight, but does well nonetheless. However, what was the need to make her do an item song? Hrishitaa Bhatt and Samir Aftab get minimal scope.

Sachin Khedekar enacts the mandatory villain's part with ease. Vishwajeet Pradhan and Mushtaq Khan are commendable.

On the whole, Shadow caters more to the hardcore masses mainly. A film for single screens

MALLANNA MOVIE REVIEW

Cast: Vikram, Shreya, Vadivelu , Prabhu,Susi Ganesan, Krishna
    Camera: NK Ekambaram

    Producer: Kalaipuli S Thanu

    Rating:

Vikram ,sherya in Mallanna And Kandhasamy2009- movie review

    Story and analysis:

It seems to susi ganesan magic not worked so far in this film. Even though the story and concept was old one. susi showed in new way. Kandhasamy is a commercial Masala movie but comes with the Midas touch of master craftsmen like Susi Ganesan and Vikram. Also the film has been released at the right season when the audiences are tired of a series of crap movies. The Vikram-Thanu-Susi Ganesan combination is to become the biggest winner of this season with a perfect, hi-styled commercial film with an evergreen theme i.e., the emergence of superhero against the corruption in the system! At the same Time , we are sure that the film is not an usual superhero movie. Undoubtedly it is one of the finest imaginations of a creator like Susi Ganesan with the help of a good producer like Thanu. Really Thanu deserves this victory, as a producer who is passionate about Tamil cinema.
Buzz up!The film opens with scenes which show the poor people praying at a Murugan Temple at the outskirts of Chennai. They simply send their prayers to Kandhasamy, another Tamil name of Lord Muruga in the temple through a letter and tie it to a tree (known as petition tree) in front of the temple. After few minutes, our Kandhasamy (also the name of our hero Vikram) collects the letters and helps them according to their needs. Mostly people request financial help from God!
After a few incidents Kandasamy becomes the local god for the prople. His Robinhood style of helping the poor soon catches the attention of the police. The local DIG of Police (Prabhu) suspects that there is something unnatural about it and starts his investigations. Meanwhile, our hero has the other face as a strict, powerful and intelligent CBI officer Kandhasamy! He is on a mission to find out black money and illegal wealth of the rich and corrupt Indians stashed in foreign banks, which he believes is responsible for all the crime in our society.
Soon he clashes with Pallur Paramajyoti Ponnusamy (Ashish Vidyarti), the man with a golden tooth and greedy heart. Kandhasamy conducts a raid in his palatial bungalow and finds unaccounted cash and documents of various foreign deals including his Mexican connections worth over Rs 1000 crore!
Ashish Vidyarthy is devastated after the raid and his only daughter Subbalakshmi (Shreya Saran) swears revenge and pretends to fall in love with Kandhasamy. At a stage it gets exposed that both the Kandhasamys are the same. But a senior official in the CBI protects Kandhasamy in this critical situation. What makes Kandhasamy to do all these Robinhood activities? Why does this senior officer protects him? Will the DIG succeed in proving that Kandhasamy is no God? For all these answers see the movie!
Though the story is looks like a mixture of Anniyan and Sivaji - The Boss , Susi Ganesan succeeds in providing a 3.15 minutes roller coaster entertaiment with all the needy ingredients without any questions even in some illogical moments. The introduction scene of the hero is outstanding. The Mexican portion is stunning. And technically this film is another milestone in Tamil cinema.
As per the limitations of the movie the length is definitely not a plus point. Susi must reconsider the length of a few portions particularly the scenes involving the villains.
Vikram rocks as a CBI officer Kandhasamy and as a local Robinhood. He has given a new dimension to the characters he play in the film and has steered it to the winning post. Particularly, his appearance with a rooster head and different costume steals the show. The highlight is Kandhasamy dressed as a woman (like Aishwarya Rai). The presence of Charly and Mayilsamy make the scene very hilarious.
Certainly, Kandhasamy is another feather in the golden cap of this fantastic actor. Ace comedian Vadivelu rocks in the role as Thenkakadi Thenappan. Surely he is a major plus point for this magnum opus. Prabhu fits well in the role of an investigating officer. Susi Ganesan also appears in a cameo role.
Shreya, as a Hero ine has done her role well. Her stylish look and impeccable professional approach makes her role close to the viewers heart. Devi Sri Prasad's music is another pleasing element in the film. All the songs have come out well and the outstanding camera work of NK Ekambaram makes the film as a high class entertainment.

    Final View:

mallanna is a social concept one but it impact commercially good . Vikrams thirce characters was very convencing ones. shreya is very hot in the film. devi sri prasad music was excellent in this movie. At the bottom line it is an Average movie.

KAJOL BIOGRAPHY AND GOSSIPS

    KAJOL Mukherjee BIOGRAPHY:
Kajol Devgan,Kajol Mukherjee,Was born on August 5, 1975, popularly known as Kajol, is an Indian film actress appearing in Hindi films.
Kajol made her acting debut in the film Bekhudi (1992) and had her first commercial success with her second film Baazigar (1993) along with Shahrukh Khan, with whom she would deliver some of Bollywood's biggest hits, like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). Her performances in all three of these films were praised and earned her three Filmfare Best Actress Awards. After the successful Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001, she took a sabbatical from full time acting for five years. She made a comeback with Kunal Kohli's Fanaa (2006), for which she received her fourth Best Actress award at the Filmfare. Kajol is highly regarded as one of India's most successful and talented actresses.

Kajol was born in Mumbai of Bengali-Marathi descent, and belongs to a family tree with a long respectable history in the Indian cinema. Her mother Tanuja is a renowned actress, whilst her late father Shomu Mukherjee was a film producer. Her late maternal aunt, Nutan is the record holder for the most (five times) Filmfare Awards for Best Actress. Late maternal grandmother Shobhna Samarth and great grandmother Rattan Bai had both been influential figures in the early stages of Hindi cinema.
Her paternal uncles are film producers; Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. Kajol's paternal grandfather, Sashadhar Mukherjee, was a filmmaker. His wife Satirani Devi, Kajol's paternal grandmother, was the sister of three famous film personalities, Ashok Kumar, Anoop Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Kajol's cousins Rani Mukerji, Sharbani Mukherjee and Mohnish Behl are also Bollywood actors. Kajol's younger sister Tanisha Mukherjee has recently started a film career.
Kajol married Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan on February 24, 1999. On April 20, 2003, she gave birth to a daughter named Nysa.
On April 10, 2008, Kajol's father died after suffering from a cardiac arrest. His funeral was held the same day and was attended by other Bollywood personalities.
FILM CareerKajol left her school St. Josephs convent at Panchgani and started her career at the age of seventeen. Although her debut film, Bekhudi (1992) was a box office failure, her performance was noticed and she went on to work with big production houses in India.
In 1993, she shot to fame with her second film, Baazigar. The film was her first major hit, and her pairing with Shahrukh Khan was appreciated. She later went on to make a popular pairing with him in a number of films, all of which were box office successes.
Her first release in 1994, Udhaar Ki Zindagi, was a box-office failure.Despite that, her performance in the film was much appreciated by critics, and she won the BFJA Best Actress Award for her performance. She next starred in her first Yash Raj Film, the romantic drama Yeh Dillagi, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. The film was a box office success and her performance as Sapna, a strong dreamy girl who leaves her paternal home to make her own life in the big city, earned her a first nomination for Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards.
The year 1995 proved to be very successful for Kajol, as she went on to star in two of the year's biggest hits. Her first release was Rakesh Roshan's Karan Arjun. The film, which dealt with reincarnation, became the second biggest hit of the year. While her next three releases that year failed at the box office, her last release, Aditya Chopra's directorial debut, the romance Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, was not only the biggest hit of that year, but one of Hindi cinema's biggest hits. In 2008, the film entered its twelfth year in Mumbai theaters, grossing over 12 billion rupees overall, making it one of the biggest blockbusters in Bollywood. Kajol's performance in the film was praised, and she received her first Filmfare Best Actress Award.
Kajol had only one release in 1996, Bambai Ka Babu, opposite Saif Ali Khan, which was a box office failure.
In 1997, Kajol starred in Gupt: The Hidden Truth. Co-starring actors Bobby Deol and Manisha Koirala, the film was one of the highest grossing films of that year. Apart from that, her performance was a significant development for female actors in Bollywood; she was the first female actor to win the Filmfare Best Villain Award. Her next film release that year was Hamesha. Like Karan Arjun, the film dealt with the topic of reincarnation. However, unlike the latter, it failed at the box office. She next starred in her first Tamil film, Minsaara Kanavu. The film was a major critical success and Kajol won her first Best Actress award at the Filmfare Awards South ceremony. Her final release of that year was the romantic-comedy Ishq, where she was paired with her then future husband, Ajay Devgan. It performed well at the box office.

She next starred opposite Ajay Devgan in the romance Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, which was the second biggest hit of that year. However, her biggest success that year came with her last release, Karan Johar's directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which went on to become the biggest hit of the year in both India and overseas. She won her second Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance.
Kajol signs autographsKajol's first release in 1999 was the drama film Dil Kya Kare. She played the supporting role of Nandita Rai, which was well received. She had a hit with her second release, the family drama Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain. Starring alongside Anil Kapoor, Kajol received another Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare.
She had an unsuccessful year in 2000, as her only release that year, Raju Chacha went unnoticed.
Kajol had only two films released in 2001. She first played a double role in the drama Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, which was a commercial failure. However, she reinvented her success in her second venture with Karan Johar, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which was one of the biggest hits of the year, and for which she won several Best Actress awards, including her third Filmfare Best Actress Award and her second Star Screen Award for Best Actress. Critic Taran Adarsh, wrote of her performance in the film, "Kajol is first-rate in the role of a typical Chandni Chowk lass. Her Punjabi dialect will win her immense praise. The sequence when she seeks Amitabh's aashirwad, without him knowing about it, is terrific." Following the success of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kajol took a sabbatical from full time acting for five years. She gave birth to her daughter Nysa in 2003.
She made a successful comeback in 2006 with Kunal Kohli's drama Fanaa, one of the highest grossing films of the year.Portraying a blind Kashmiri girl who falls in love with a Kashmiri terrorist (played by Aamir Khan) in the film, she won her fourth Filmfare Best Actress Award, which placed her at par with two famous Bollywood actresses, Meena Kumari and Madhuri Dixit, each of whom holds 4 Best Actress awards from Filmfare. (Kajol's late aunt, Nutan currently holds the record for five such awards.)
Kajol's latest release, U, Me aur Hum, which released on April 11, 2008, marked her husband Ajay Devgan's directorial debut. The film performed moderately at the box office and Kajol was critically praised for her sensitive portrayal as an Alzheimer patient. For her performance in the film, she received her tenth Filmfare Best Actress Award nomination. Raja Sen wrote in his review, ""... Kajol ... can span through happy-breezy with her eyes closed, and so the first half doesn't even pose her a challenge, but when Alzheimer's strikes Piya and she begins to forget all that matters in her life, Kajol raises the bar strikingly high."
Kajol is currently working on Karan Johar's new movie My Name Is Khan, which is based on a true story, against the backdrop of perceptions on Islam post September 11. Filming commenced in December 2008 in Los Angeles and is scheduled for release in February 2010.
